Fellow MP Claude DeBellefeuille, of the Bloc Quebecois Party, pointed out Amos’s rashness during the questioning period.
“We saw a member during the questioning period who did not dress properly. That is, undressed. So perhaps remind Members, especially the male members, that suits and ties are appropriate,” said DeBellefeuille in French, the parliamentary translator said. .
“We saw that the member was in very good shape, but I think this member should be reminded what is appropriate and that he should operate his camera.
Speaker of the House Anthony Rota responded to DeBellefeuille: “I would like to thank the honorable Member for her comments,” said Rota. “I missed that.”
Amos then posted an apology on his Twitter account.
“I sincerely apologize to all my colleagues in Parliament. It was a genuine mistake + it will not happen again.”
Amos is a member of the Liberal Party of Canada, which is headed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
CNN has contacted Amos and the Prime Minister’s office for comment.
In June 2020, the Canadian Parliament saw another controversy after Canadian New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh was forced to leave the building after calling another politician “ racist. ”
Singh made the charge in the House of Commons after Alain Therrien, of the Bloc Québécois party, refused to support a motion calling for parliament to recognize the existence of systemic racism in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police force.
Bloc Québécois tweeted to address the exchange and urged Singh to apologize for his comments, which they say “tarnish” Therrien’s reputation.
