Canadian dealers also participate in the flipping game.
No wonder the flippers are on the case. The RS6 Avant, an autobahn stormer and an occasional track toy, packs a 591 hp V8, quattro four-wheel drive and Audi tech into a package that gets your heart rate up when you watch it.
Like Road and rail discovered, Canadian dealers were among the first to stock the RS6 car. Some of these dealers decided to sell them at auctions. Those cars, now technically used cars, were sent across the border to American dealers. The practice seems pretty smart – the Canadian dealers made their profit without negotiating with a customer.
To check Cars.com for used RS6 Avants and you’ll see plenty advertised for more than just stickers. Some of these cars have so low mileage you’d think their owners drove them home and put them up for sale right away. Keep in mind that buying a recent vehicle originating from Canada can cause a headache. While these are the same cars you can buy here, they sometimes have VINs that don’t show up in a DMV system. Some dealers will not even touch cars coming from Canada, Car and driver reports.
While Canadian dealers’ flipped RS6 Avants probably made sense at launch, it doesn’t now. Tick the … New box on Cars.com and you will find more new cars around sticker than these used ones. So there’s really no reason to buy a low-mile, but still technically used, RS6 Avant that has had two or three previous owners.
