Call of Duty: WarzoneThe Verdansk map is no longer there, at least for now. As part of the game’s Season 2 Finale Event, which will lead straight into Season 3, a massive in-game nuclear missile launch has wiped out the entire map. Or that’s what happened if your game didn’t crash.
The missile launch was part of one War zone event that even got its own special playlist called “Destruction of Verdansk, Part 1”, and it certainly lived up to its name. The event started just like a normal game of War zone. However, the zones of infection that have been on the map for the past few days started to grow slowly before taking over almost the entire map.
Every time players died anywhere on the map, they came back as zombies, leading to a match that was almost entirely zombies by the end. Just as the map was completely overrun, a warning came over the radio to leave Verdansk because a nuclear launch was imminent. However, it appears the warning came a little late and seconds later a nuclear missile exploded on Verdansk, seemingly destroying the map. Then the game ended and the players returned to the main menu.
Unfortunately, the mode turned out to be a bit too popular for Call of Duty servers. For most players, the mode took several tries to actually come to the intended conclusion, as the game was plagued with crashes that ended the matches early. Fortunately, Raven has released a new update stating should help avoid these crash issues.
Currently, the only option in the menu is to revisit the “Destruction of Verdansk, Part 1” mode, but that will likely disappear when the event ends at 5:00 PM EDT. After the event is over, we’ll probably get our first look at what’s coming next War zone, at least according to Raven Software’s schedule.
