California authorities are investigating the case of a person who died hours after receiving a Covid-19 vaccine last week.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office and Placer County’s Public Health Department were recently notified of the vaccination and death, which occurred Thursday, according to a statement posted to Facebook by the sheriff’s office.
It is not clear which vaccine the person received and whether the vaccine played a role in their death.
“We don’t make any connection with the vaccine,” said a spokeswoman for the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office, adding that an autopsy was planned. “We ask the public to remain patient with us as this investigation continues, so that we can hopefully get more clarity.”
Spokespersons representing the sheriff’s office, the coroner and Placer County Public Health said they could not release more details about the incident.
