The man arrested yesterday, Wednesday, who was listed as the number one most wanted in the Caguas region, confessed to murdering three 19-year-olds near Moisty Skate Park, in that municipality last Monday, to The new day Inspector Ricardo De Jesús, Director of Caguas’ Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC).
The suspect, William David Marcano, 47, who was wanted for a 2018 double murder and gun law violations, also reportedly confessed to the author of that crime that took place in the Bunker urbanization in Caguas. In addition, he said he was the author of a murder that took place in June 2020 in the Morales neighborhood of that municipality.
“The person who was arrested yesterday confessed to the facts that he was the one who killed the three youngsters. A round of confrontation was held in which one of the witnesses identified him as the person who committed the events. The prosecutor’s office is already preparing the entire file for tomorrow morning to file the corresponding charges, ”said De Jesús, adding that Marcano confessed the facts at the time of his arrest.
De Jesús pointed out that in total he confessed to being the author of six murders, including the three young men.
“We have already completed the investigation. The matter has been cleared up, we are awaiting the completion of the file which is practically complete. Some details would be missing to be able to submit tomorrow morning, ” he added.
The victims of the triple murder were identified as Alexis Y. Vélez Torres, Nilson D. Pérez Altagracia and Frankie J. Coss Báez, residents of Caguas. Early in the investigation, Sergeant David Correa reported that the man lived in the facilities of the old water park and that when he saw five young people walking through the area “without saying a word,” he had killed three.
At the time, it was ruled out that the crime was related to drugs or some form of contraband. The other two young men on the scene, aged between 19 and 20, were unharmed during the incident.
On the other hand, De Jesús indicated that in connection with the double murder of 2018, the case had already been initiated and would now go to the preliminary hearing. For this case, against Marcano weighed in bail of $ 2.2 million.
Regarding the June 2020 murder, he said that “there are some details that the prosecutor must obtain, such as evidence and reports from Forensic Sciences to file later, but it will also be filed and clarified.”
