Buckeyes take over as the best program of all time

Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise. Football will always be our focus, but every day we discuss news, notes and analysis from all of Buckeyes’ sports. Join us every morning to learn all about everything you’ve been missing in the world of football, recruiting, basketball and more in the state of Ohio.

Buckeyes take over as the best program of all time

Ohio State had a pandemic-shortened season, but the Buckeyes still managed to make an appearance in the national title game. And they certainly were able to make some college football history in their eight-game season.

During the past football season, Ohio State became the winning rate-based program in college football history with a .730 win rate. That’s the most time ever under programs with a minimum of 800 games played.

Ohio State has the best win rate of all time in the past 100 years, 50 years, and 25 years.

The Buckeyes dominated the Big Ten on their way to a national title appearance last year. And while they lost in that title game, no program has been more dominant in college football history than the Buckeyes.

Lettermen Live hosted by Roosters

The low season is in full swing with the new early subscribers ready to go to work, and Lettermen Live is back for another big episode with plenty to discuss.

Austin Ward, Lettermen Row senior writer, is joined by former Buckeyes linebacker Bobby Carpenter, former Ohio State defender Michael Bennett and former Buckeyes quarterback Justin Zwick to share the latest Ohio State news, including some of the early class of 2021 can expect their first moments with the Buckeyes this spring.

They also discuss the Senior Bowl, which took place over the weekend, and how those festivities can help boost draw stocks from former Ohio State players. The crew also broke their memories of preparing for the NFL draft after their college football career.

As always, Lettermen Live is hosted by Roosters on Olentangy River Road in Columbus.

Ohio State Commit CJ Hicks Joins Birminology

It’s been nearly a year since Ohio State Kettering (Ohio) offered Archbishop Alter star CJ Hicks, who would kick off a major second season for the Knights. Hicks committed to the Buckeyes a few weeks later.

Since then, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound linebacker prospect has changed from recruit to recruiter, serving as the de facto class builder for the state of Ohio, while also seeing his national profile shift from regional star to a top 40 prospect in the country. Hicks has emerged as one of the faces of the Ohio State 2022 class not only because of his game, but because he takes every opportunity to promote his future program, doing so well that he is nicknamed ‘Captain Buckeye’ earned by recruiting analysts and even his peers.

Now CJ Hicks puts the recruiter’s hat back on and works overtime trying to bring the best players in the country to Ohio with him. The goal is simple: to recruit the best class in the history of the Internet recruiting era, a title now held by the Alabama 2021 recruiting class. Hicks spoke about that and more about the latest episode of Birminology with Lettermen Row Director of Recruiting Jeremy Birmingham.
