A few NFL owners are under pressure to sell their English Premier League football teams in the wake of the failed attempt to start a football Super League.
Through Sports shops dailyUK fans want the Glazers (who owns the Buccaneers) and Stan Kroenke (who owns the Rams) to sell Manchester United and Arsenal respectively.
Manchester United co-chairman Joel Glazer apologized for “the club’s involvement in the escaping European Super League project” and admitted that the effort did not respect the “deep-rooted traditions” of the English version of the game.
“Although the wounds are raw and I understand it will take some time for the scars to heal, I am personally committed to restoring trust with our fans and learning from the message you delivered with such conviction”, Glazer said.
The Glazers have always been controversial owners of the Manchester United club, and it seems that no fan of a Stan Kroenke-owned team ever wants him to own it. The attempt to form a new Super League for their football teams has failed miserably and spectacularly. More time will be needed to determine if those involved in setting it up will be able to thrive with their current teams in their current competitions. Divestment may ultimately be the only practical solution.
