Bryce Young is ‘Russell Wilson on steroids’ according to a California scout

Since the turn of the decade, Alabama has quickly become a center for producing excellent quarterbacks. Be it Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa or Mac Jones, all three had massive success at the Crimson Tide and are poised to have a long, next-level career.

The next quarterback expected to join that group of elite careers is five-star recruit Bryce Young from California. Since his signing with the Crimson Tide, there has been a lot of hype surrounding the young quarterback and many believe he has the potential to be the best of the bunch.

A college football scout believes he has some other equipment for him and compared his to Johnny Manziel.

“Simply put, Bryce is a unique player in the quarterback position, unlike anyone who ever played Alabama for college,” said Keith Smith of Showcase Football said during a performance on In My Own Words. “But very similar to a guy they probably had nightmares about, speaking of none other than Johnny Manziel, who came to Tuscaloosa and put an ‘L’ on that Roll Tide team a few years ago. So Bryce Young is a unique talent and without a doubt he will do special things in Tuscaloosa. “

If Alabama got their hands on the next Johnny Manziel, that would bode well for the Tide, especially with the amount of success he had in the SEC and especially against the Crimson Tide.

Smith wasn’t done making comparisons during his performance on the podcast, as he even linked Young’s game to one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL in Russell Wilson. But he even went a step further with his formulation of the California native.

“His balance as a young player will strike Alabama fans early on,” said Smith. “This is not a kid who gets confused at any point. I’ve seen him rise by 20, I’ve seen him rise with 14 (he’s the same) same player. Never get too high, never get too low, just someone who absolutely personalized the quarterback position. You really have never seen anything like it.

“I compare him to Russell Wilson on steroids.”

Comparisons like these will only make Alabama’s upcoming spring game anticipate so much more to see what the future Crimson Tide signal generator can do.
