Normally, the Cleveland Browns would attend the annual Indianapolis scouting combination with all other NFL teams at this time of year. The combination will not take place this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but an important part of the combination experience for teams is still taking place virtually.
There are player meetings and team interviews with the preliminary prospects. One of the players the Browns have recently met is a promising and interesting, Northwestern cornerback Greg Newsome II.
Newsome is generally projected between # 25 and # 50 overall, a range that includes the Browns’ top pick at # 26. His ability to play the ball in the air and use his height and football wisdom have made Newsome a hot prospect, and it’s encouraging to learn that the Browns have already met.
