Brown criticized Republican colleagues who he believed had approached Trump’s impeachment process with a closed mind despite the “damage he has done to his country.”
It is so clear that this president has abused his power. It is so obvious that he has incited violence, ”he said. “And my colleagues simply refuse to see it because of their bitter fear of Donald Trump.”

Speaking with reporters in the Capitol ahead of Saturday’s impeachment proceedings, Brown said he was unsure if calling witnesses would change the view of Republicans who have already decided to acquit Trump.
“They know he incited violence,” he said. But their fear of this president campaigning against them – I’ve never seen the fear do this. You can see it in their eyes. “
“I am incredulous,” added Brown. “I am incredulous, except that I have seen my spineless colleagues walk around with fear in their eyes for four years. And so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. “
Brown later joined all 50 Senate Democrats and five GOP members to vote to summon witnesses and subpoena documents in Trump’s impeachment process.
