Broward Health offers vaccines for people at high risk ages 18 and older – NBC 6 South Florida

Broward Health announced Friday that it has made COVID-19 vaccine appointments for high-risk individuals ages 18 and older.

According to a spokesperson for Broward Health, all agreements have been fulfilled from Friday afternoon. It’s unclear exactly when the healthcare system will open another set of appointments, but it will likely be next week.

Patients 18 years and older who meet one of the following high-risk groups are only eligible for the vaccine by appointment:

  • Asthma (moderate to severe)
  • Cancer
  • Cerebrovascular Disease
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • COPD
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Down syndrome
  • Heart conditions such as (heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies)
  • Hypertension or high blood pressure
  • Immunocompromised state due to blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids, or use of debilitating drugs or solid organ transplant
  • Liver disease
  • Neurological conditions, such as dementia
  • Overweight or obese (Body Mass Index higher than 25)
  • Pregnancy
  • Pulmonary fibrosis
  • Sickle cell disease
  • To smoke
  • Thalassemia
  • Type 1 diabetes mellitus
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus

Patients are asked to complete a vaccination consent form, which was retrieved from the Broward Health website as of Friday afternoon.

Broward Health says it vaccinates more than 1,000 people every day at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Lockhart Park. The public can sign up for appointments at BrowardHealth.org.
