Since a limited supply of the coronavirus vaccine has become available across Florida, residents are understandably curious when they can line up for a dose.

One of South Florida’s largest hospitals will open their doors to patients looking for the vaccine that is much younger than the state requirement – as long as they meet certain requirements.

Days after it was announced that South Florida locations – in both Miami-Dade and Broward – would offer the vaccine, slots remain open at area CVS locations.

Seniors are vaccinated at Chen Medical Centers

Up to 1,100 preplanned COVID-19 vaccinations will be safely delivered Saturday at the two newest centers in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

The events, held at 2230 Northwest 95th Street in Miami and 3460 North Andrews Avenue in Oakland Park, are part of a strategic and multi-faceted alliance with the Florida Department of Health to better protect thousands of seniors in disadvantaged neighborhoods from the coronavirus pandemic.


Broward Health offers vaccines for people at high risk ages 18 and older

Broward Health announced Friday that it has made COVID-19 vaccine appointments for high-risk individuals ages 18 and older.

According to a spokesperson for Broward Health, all agreements have been fulfilled from Friday afternoon. It’s unclear exactly when the healthcare system will open another set of appointments, but it will likely be next week.

Patients 18 years and older who meet one of the high-risk groups are eligible for the vaccine by appointment only.


FDA panel unanimously recommends Johnson & Johnson vaccine

A key Food and Drug Administration advisory panel on Friday backed Johnson & Johnson’s emergency coronavirus vaccine.

The recommendation is a critical step paving the way for a third preventative treatment to be distributed in the US next week.

The non-binding decision, passed 22-0 by the FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee, comes as the Biden administration works to ramp up the delivery of vaccine doses and get Americans vaccinated as soon as possible.
