Broward County COVID-19 Vaccine Portal Resumes Appointment Scheduling – NBC 6 South Florida

Broward County’s portal for scheduling Covid vaccinations is back online after the site suffered outages last week following a high demand for appointments.

Through the portal, residents of 65 years and older can make an appointment to receive the vaccine for free.

When the website went live last week, all slots up to and including February were quickly booked and the portal started experiencing intermittent outages.

“We thank you for your patience during this time,” said a Florida Department of Health press release.

The department also urged eligible seniors to visit the website often as they increase the number of senior vaccination sites in the coming weeks.

Drive-thru vaccination sites are also available. Appointments cannot be made by telephone.

“We are sorry that the registration system did not work as we intended. We recognize that our senior community is eager to receive the vaccine, ”said Dr. Paula Thaqi, director of the Florida Department of Health in Broward, last week.

Please know that this is just the beginning of the vaccination options for COVID-19. As the local supply of vaccines grows, DOH-Broward, along with our partners, is poised to vaccinate individuals aged 65 and older as well as additional priority groups as soon as they are identified. “
