Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant remains captain of the NBA All-Star Game, despite not playing

NEW YORK – Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets will still serve as captain of the NBA All-Star Game, despite a hamstring injury that prevents him from playing.

Durant and fellow Los Angeles Lakers All-Star Game captain LeBron James will each draw up a roster from the pool of select All-Stars. The All-Star concept will be broadcast on TNT on March 4.

It remained unclear whether Durant will travel to Atlanta for the game on March 7.

Durant has missed the Nets’ past seven games with a hamstring load and has been ruled out on the All-Star break. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver named Domantas Sabonis as Durant’s replacement in the game, and Jayson Tatum was elevated to All-Star starter in Durant’s absence.

Durant, an 11-time All-Star, has averaged 29 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists for Brooklyn this season.
