British model Stella Tennant died on Tuesday at the age of 50 in the Scottish town of Duns, her family confirmed in a statement on Wednesday.
“Stella was a wonderful woman and an inspiration to all of us. She will be sorely missed,” her family said in the note.
Tennant became Scottish by origin and rose to prominence in the early 1990s, starring photo shoots in the most prestigious magazines and publications, such as Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar.

She also stood out on catwalks around the world, parading the creations of top fashion designers, and her face was associated with global brands such as Calvin Klein, Chanel and Burberry.
Retired from the fashion world, she participated in the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, along with other well-known British supermodels, including Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.
That same year, she was inducted into the Scottish Fashion Hall of Fame, in recognition of a long and successful career.
The family said in the statement, asking for “privacy to be respected,” that it will release more details about the funeral “later”.
Scottish police also reported today that Corps officers appeared at an address in Duns this Tuesday at around 11:30 am local time in response to the “sudden death of a 50-year-old woman.”
The law enforcement officials indicated that no “suspicious circumstances” had been discovered.
