Breath of the Wild 2 is reportedly coming out sooner than we thought

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is reportedly coming out sooner than we thought, or at least that’s what a new release date indicates. Since Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite game at E3 2019, we haven’t seen or heard from the new Zelda game and sequel to the 2017 bestseller, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. And with rumors that Nintendo is holding onto the game for the Nintendo Super Switch launch, many Nintendo fans have slowly but surely prepared for another year of silence. However, it seems Nintendo fans have given up hope too soon.

According to the Austrian retailer Gameware, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will be released sometime in the second quarter of 2021, that is, somewhere between April 1 and June 1. Unfortunately, the retailer doesn’t reveal anything more specific, and it’s of course possible that this is nothing more than a placeholder / guess or the retailer is just looking for some extra site traffic.

Interestingly, the retailer also has a release window for it Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne Remastering, and claims the game will be released sometime in May.

Since we haven’t heard anything salient The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 in almost two years, a second quarter release is unlikely, but there are many rumors that the game will be out this year. That said, if it is released in the second quarter, it will have to be announced very soon. It’s going to be one of Nintendo’s greatest games of the generation, and it’s sure to want some good marketing before it drops.

Now take everything here with a grain of salt. If this were an Amazon or Best Buy listing there would be little room for doubt, but smaller, region-specific retailers like these are known to use placeholders and seek out traffic with inaccurate dates and windows.

At the time of publication, no affected parties – Nintendo or Gameware – have commented on the possible leak. If this changes, we will definitely update the story. In the meantime, for more information on everything Nintendo and Nintendo Switch related, click here or continue to the links below:
