Bradley Beal and Westbrook stopped Durant and the Nets

Washington. Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook hit 3-pointers in a dizzying 3.8-second run at the end of the game to get the Washington Wizards to upset Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets with a 149-146 victory on Sunday .

Westbrook finished with 41 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, while Beal, the NBA’s top scorer, had 37 points. In the fourth quarter, Beal had 22 points and Westbrook 15. Durant, second on the league’s scoring list, also had 37 points.

With Washington behind 146-141, Beal tripled with 8.1 seconds to go. Garrison Matthews whistled a pass from Joe Harris to Westbrook and hit another 3 with 4.3 seconds to go to set up the Wizards 147-146.

Kyrie Irving found Timothe Luwawu-Carbarrot under the basket with 2.9 to play, but his shot went through the basket and missed. Beal added two free throws to 0.7 seconds when the Wizards broke a four-game loss streak and improved their record to 4-12, still the worst in the NBA.

Harris had the best offensive contribution of his career with 30 points, and Irving added 26 for the Brooklyn case. The Nets had won four games in a row.

James Harden was absent with a concussion, the first match he has not competed in since being traded from Houston to Brooklyn on Jan. 13.

Westbrook has imposed season highlights in consecutive games. He entered the game with an average of 18.9 points, his lowest level since his second season in the league in 2009-10.

The Wizards have been 1-4 since resuming their games after a 13-day hiatus with six postponements for COVID-19 issues.
