With the support of Will Smith, a Puerto Rican filmmaker

“It’s an honor to direct Blue Beetle, the first Latino superhero movie for DC… I want everyone at Warner Bros. and sincerely thank DC for trusting me to bring Jaime Reyes to life. I can’t wait to make history together, ” said the Puerto Rican director of Charm City Kings in statements from The Wrap, which released the news.

It should be noted that the Santurce-born filmmaker got the support of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith as executive producers on his recent project Charm City Kings.

Soto will enter the Blue Beetle movie set in the fall, with Zev Foreman as executive producer. The proposal is scripted by Mexican Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who wrote Universal’s new version of Scarface and Sony’s Miss Bala, the portal said.

The Wrap announced that the film will focus on Mexican-American teen Jaime Reyes, the third character to take on the mantle of Blue Beetle, a superhero inhabited by two other alter egos.
