BLM Co-Founder Opal Tometi Calls For A Royal Family BOYCOTT After Meghan’s Bombshell Claim Over Concerns About Archie’s Skin Tone

  • Meghan claimed a member of the royal family had ‘concerns’ about Archie
  • Opal Tometi told TMZ she felt the institution should be boycotted
  • She added that black women like Meghan should be believed when speaking out
  • Oprah said the comments were not made by the Queen or Prince Philip

The American co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement is calling for a boycott of the royal family after Meghan Markle’s bombshell claims in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Opal Tometi, 36, told TMZ she felt people should stop at the palace after the Duchess of Sussex alleged that a member of the family raised “ concerns ” about Archie’s possible skin color while pregnant.

Meghan told Oprah there were ‘concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born’.

She added, “That was passed on to me by Harry. Those were conversations that family had with him. ‘

The couple declined to name the person who allegedly made the comments, but Prince Harry reportedly told Oprah off-air that they were not created by the Queen or Prince Philip.

Tometi, a prominent activist, said the allegations should cause people to turn their backs on the royal family, TMZ said.

She said black women like Meghan should be believed when speaking out.

Tometi is known as one of the founders of the Black Lives Matter movement. That group was in the midst of protests last summer calling for racial justice in police and other matters. While some of the protests were destructive and violent, many were peaceful.

“Opal Tometi is one of the most influential human rights leaders of our time,” says its website. “Opal represents a level of courage and leadership that most of us only read about in black history books,” it proclaims.

She is listed in a recent biography as living in New York and as a child of Nigerian immigrants to the United States. Tometi grew up in the Phoenix area.

Meanwhile, palace insiders have responded with horror to Meghan’s allegations, saying it was very unfair to throw such a damaging accusation, potentially ridiculing some senior royals unable to defend themselves .

It was also pointed out that there was no context for the alleged comment, which might shed more light on why it was said.

And there seemed to be some contradiction as to when it was said, with Meghan saying it was while she was pregnant, while Harry said it happened before their wedding.

Winfrey said she was “shocked” by the alleged comment about Archie’s skin color, but although she had tried to ask Harry for more information, both on and off camera, he had refused to divulge more.

However, he told her that he wanted to make it clear that the person concerned was “neither his grandmother nor his grandfather.”

The claim came when the Duchess was asked why she thought the royal family was trying to prevent her unborn son from becoming a prince

Meghan had said in the interview: ‘In those months that I was pregnant, all around the same time, so we simultaneously have the conversation of,’ you don’t get certainty, you don’t get a title ‘and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin can be when he is born. ‘

She wrapped it up in her discussion of how the royal family allegedly stripped Archie of his prince title before he was born, saying that from the beginning of her pregnancy, she felt the rules had unfairly and inexplicably changed for him.

Oprah was stunned and asked her if the unidentified person was concerned that he would be ‘too brown’.

Meghan replied, “If that’s the assumption you’re making, that’s pretty safe.”
