Blizzard’s Diablo II Remaster supports your old saved files

DiabloII resurrected

Last month, Blizzard announced Diablo II: ResurrectedIt’s a remaster of the base game and Lord of Destruction, coming to Nintendo Switch and multiple other platforms this year. If you happen to be a returning player, you may be interested to know that you can actually use your saves from the original game on PC.

Speaking to IGN, game producer Matthew Cederquist explained that support for save files dating back more than two decades was not originally planned. The team just tried it out and it just happened to work.

“When we were working on [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work and we kind of put it in and it worked. And we were like, ‘okay, that’s the best feature ever’. “

While it was not mentioned whether this feature will even work with the console versions of the game, the remaster will support cross-progression. So in theory you should be able to load your old PC storage file into the computer version and then open it on the console platform of your choice.

Even if you don’t have your original saves, this technically means you can level a character of your choice in the original PC version (which is available on Battle.Net) as the remaster is the same game with new audio and graphics. , and a few other changes, such as an improved UI, expanded inventory, and updated ladder seasons.
