The Padres made their first big leap off-season by trading for Rays left-handed Blake Snell, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand. The Rays are getting back four prospects, including left-handed Luis Patiño, San Diego’s No. 3 prospect. According to MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal, the other three prospects are Francisco Mejía, Blake Hunt and Cole Wilcox. The clubs have not confirmed the deal, which is pending physics.
Snell won the 2018 AL Cy Young Award and spent his first five seasons in the Majors at Tampa Bay.
