Blake Griffin, free agent striker, struck a deal with the Brooklyn Nets for the remainder of the season, his Excel Basketball agent Sam Goldfeder told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Griffin, 31, agreed to buy his contract with the Detroit Pistons on Friday and got waivers this weekend.
While several teams were interested in Griffin, the six-time All-Star player decided to join a Nets who have their sights set on the championship.
Griffin gives the Mets more measure high behind DeAndre Jordan, while the team sees him as a small ball in the center of the bench.
Injuries dramatically changed Griffin’s performance, eliminating the high jump that characterized his career. Now he relies on triples and his ability to help other players.
Griffin averaged 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 20 games for Detroit this season.
