Biomutant Reveals New Trailer and Controversial Pre-Order Bonus

BiomutantThe May release date is getting closer and publisher THQ Nordic has released a brand new trailer showcasing the game’s vibrant worlds and kung fu-inspired action! The trailer was also accompanied by information about the game’s pre-order incentive: those who pre-order the digital release or the collector’s edition will get access to the Mercenary class, which apparently contains “a unique combination of benefits.” This class will eventually be available to all players as DLC, but those who want it for free will need to pre-order one of these versions. Unfortunately, the physical standard version is not included in the promotion.

The latest trailer for the game can be found in the Tweet embedded below.

The game’s pre-order bonus was received with some hesitation by gamers looking forward to it Biomutant A commentator noted that the controversy all around Cyberpunk 2077 had made them hesitate to pre-order future games, which THQ Nordic said was “understandable”. Other comments were disappointed that one of the game classes would essentially be behind a “paywall”, especially as the standard physical edition is not included in the promotion. It’s a shame, but pre-order bonuses have become an industry standard and it looks like developers and publishers will continue to rely on them as long as gamers are willing to put in money before they release.

The digital version of Biomutant retails for $ 59.99, while the collector’s edition retails for $ 119.99. The collector’s edition comes with the game and a number of extras, including a figurine, A1 artwork on fabric and the soundtrack. There is also a $ 399 Atomic edition that includes these items, but trades the figurine for a diorama. It also includes a t-shirt, a SteelBook, and an oversized mouse. There’s no word on whether the Atomic version will include the pre-order incentive as well, but hopefully it will, given the package’s price tag!

Biomutant will be released on May 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. You can check out all of our previous coverage of the game here.
