Big Ten Wide Receiver of Year Ty Fryfogle returns to Indiana for 2021 college football season

Indiana senior wide receiver Ty Fryfogle announced he was return to play for the Hoosiers in 2021.

Fryfogle had the chance to speak out for the NFL draft after being named the Big Ten Wide Receiver of the Year in the 2020 season, but decided to use his senior year of eligibility in college and back to return for its final season.

Fryfogle had 721 yards and seven touchdowns last season, leading Indiana receivers in both categories, including back-to-back 200-yard receiving games against Michigan State and Ohio State. He was named the first-team All-Big Ten by the media and by the coaches of the second-team All-Big Ten.

While Fryfogle has now announced his intentions, Indiana’s second leading receiver, Whop Philyor, has not yet announced what he plans to do. Philyor had the chance to leave for the NFL after the 2019 season, but returned in 2020 and had 495 yards and three touchdowns, leading the team in total receptions with 54.

The Hoosiers will also include quarterback Michael Penix Jr. return, who tore his ACL up in the game against Maryland and didn’t play in the last three games of the season. Prior to his injury, Penix Jr. for 1,645 yards and 14 touchdowns, leading Indiana to a 5-1 record in six games he played, including a thrilling season-opener win against Penn State.
