Biden to sign 15 executive actions on the first day

President-elect Joe Biden is expected to sign 15 executive actions upon taking office on Wednesday, immediately reversing Trump’s key policies.

Why it matters: The 15 actions – targeting issues like climate change and immigration – mark more drastic immediate steps compared to the two-day-one actions of Biden’s four predecessors combined, according to upcoming White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

What they say: The actions are the first of many, Psaki said in a press release, as Biden works “to address the four crises he outlined” – COVID-19, the economic crisis, racial injustice and climate change.

  • “In the coming days and weeks, we will announce additional executive actions to address these challenges and deliver on the President-elect’s promises to the American people,” said Psaki, “including repealing the ban on military service by transgender Americans and the rollback of the Mexico City policy. ”
