Biden rejects common sense on everything from schools to borders

It is truly amazing how much President Biden chose in his early weeks to side with the left wing of his party and its special interests – and even against the wishes of moderate Americans.

It’s most evident in his Mexican border frenzy: President Donald Trump has developed a perfectly reasonable, humane policy that has halted the record-breaking flow of Obama-era migrants at the border. Still, Biden took unnecessary steps to end Trump’s “Stay in Mexico” deal and other agreements with Central American countries that clearly worked. Instead, he has put a temporary stop on deportations and is working on plans to provide millions of illegal immigrants with a path to citizenship.

All of this has encouraged Central American migrants to rush to the US border: The number of children crossing the border this year is on track to break the all-time record by 45 percent. And he had to resort to the infamous “cages” to hold children who had crossed over without their families, and things only get worse when summer hits.

Meanwhile, his end to deportations is also leading to a return to “capture and release” – posing a public health threat: more than 100 illegal border crossers released last week had tested positive for the coronavirus, but were still emerging. And that’s just one of the ways this policy is fooling border towns.

None of this makes sense: 55 percent of Americans disapprove of Biden’s restraint on deportations, and only the far-left are happy that the border rise is resumed.

And even if he embraces open borders, he lets schools remain passively closed. He drops his pledges to get the most disclosure in his first 100 days, but now pretends he can’t do without massive new federal spending in his “ emergency relief ” bill – even though the country’s schools have billions left from the emergency response. from last year, and his suggested expenditures are primarily for years into the future.

Science clearly shows that reopening poses no real health risk to students or adult staff, but the president simply refuses to criticize the teachers’ unions (and the politicians they monitor), which are without a doubt the real barrier to reopening. That is why American parochial and private schools, and public schools in areas of low union power, opened weeks ago.

He has also gone extremely green on energy policy. While most Americans support moderate efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions, that doesn’t cover his multi-trillion-dollar plans to decarbonise the entire country. With one action alone, killing the Keystone XL pipeline, he killed thousands of good American jobs and hit America’s close friend, Canada – when actually to damage the environment, as the Canadians will simply ship their oil by rail and truck (meaning more pollution and a greater risk of spillage) to consumers who will still burn it, probably in dirtier plants than the ones here.

Then there’s his nonsense about culture warfare, like his order to force biological men to exercise with girls – another policy that a majority of Americans disapprove of, according to a poll by Harvard University and Harris Insights and Analytics.

He is so reluctant to face the harsh left that he played along with the insane drive to cancel Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel, dropping all mention of the beloved author in his Read Across America Day proclamation. It doesn’t matter that the day comes on March 2, because that is Seuss’s birthday, nor that then-President Barack Obama and his wife did not bring Seuss’s work to the attention of interns and children until 2015. “Pretty much all the things you need to know are in Dr. Seuss,” Obama said. Heck, now Vice President Kamala Harris, tweeted Seuss a happy birthday wish in 2017.

But the ravenous left wants Seuss’s scalp, and Biden was forced to cancel an author who has shown countless millions that reading is fun.

Whether he’s afraid of the power of the left, or has no idea how extreme his government is proving, the president across the board rejects the sensible center. Not only is he stupid, he is making the exact opposite of his inaugural vow to unite the nation.
