Beyoncé to donate $ 500,000 to people affected by the deportation crisis

From January 7, 2021, people can apply for the scholarships, the singer announced on her website on Tuesday. Grants will be sent to the 100 selected people at the end of January.
“Beyoncé continues her heart of support and help where it is needed most. Phase two of the BeyGOOD Impact Fund will now help those affected by the housing crisis,” said a press release.

“The housing moratorium will expire on December 26, resulting in mortgage decisions and rent foreclosures. Many families are affected by the pandemic that resulted in job losses, illness and general economic downturn,” the press said.

According to an analysis of Census data by the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, an estimated 9.2 million tenants who lost income during the pandemic are behind on rent.

Once the moratoriums are lifted, many of these tenants are expected to pay their full rent in arrears or come up with some sort of payment plan with their landlord – otherwise they could lose their homes.

Those applying for the grants must submit the necessary documentation to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) before the deadline.

This isn’t Beyoncé’s first effort to help communities affected by the pandemic.

BeyGOOD has partnered with the NAACP to support black-owned small businesses affected by the pandemic, and to date has provided 250 businesses with grants of $ 10,000.
In May, she and her mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, set up Covid-19 mobile test sites in their hometown of Houston, Texas. She also, in partnership with Jack Dorsey’s Start Small fund, donated $ 6 million to coronavirus control in April.
