Benzema, fifth with 70 goals in the Champions League, puts Cristiano right in scoring figures

Karim continues to grow as a scorer on the ‘White House’ team, both in the league and in the Champions League

French Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has become the fifth player in Champions League history to score 70 goals and joins European football stars.

In the return leg for the Champions League Eighth Final against Atalanta, Benzema was in charge of opening the scoring for the Merengues thanks to an assist from Luka Modric who left him alone in front of goal. According to MisterChip, the Frenchman’s annotation puts him on a historic list, along with elements such as Cristiano Ronaldo (135 goals), Lionel Messi (120 goals), Robert Lewandowski (72) and Raúl (71).

Since Ronaldo’s departure from the ‘White House’ in 2018, Karim has taken on the role of Madrid’s Champions League scorer and counting his score against the Italian team, the French striker has 14 goals, the same as Cristiano has achieved with Juventus in the last three editions of UEFA’s main club competition.

On the other hand, Karim Benzema stands alone below Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raúl as the player who has scored the most different rivals in the Champions League. The Frenchman scored 32 different teams.
