Due to a flight delay, the Bayern Munich players had to spend the night on the plane and thus postponed their arrival at the location of the Club World Cup.
Bayern’s flight to Qatar for the World cup for clubs, scheduled for Friday evening, could not take off until 6:52 am this Saturday and the players had to spend the night on the plane at Berlin airport.
The plans were to fly after the match against Hertha, which had been brought forward for half an hour before that, and Bayern was at Willy Brandt airport in Berlin-Brandenburg at 10:45 PM.
The plane was scheduled to take off at 11:15 PM, but was not ready until 11:59 PM.
Take-offs after midnight are not allowed at Berlin airport and as the starting time is one and a half minutes, it was necessary to request a special authorization from the authorities of the state of Brandenburg, which was not granted.
“The Brandenburg authorities do not know what they have done with our team,” Karlheinz Rummenigge, chairman of Bayern Munich’s board of directors, told the daily “Bild”.
Bayern traveled with 22 players and without Javi Martínez or Leon Goretzka who have suffered a coronavirus infection, but it is possible that they will join the team later.
