According to authorities, just after 2:30 PM, police were sent to a house on 14 Mile Road, near Main Street and Washington Avenue, based on reports of a shooting. They were joined by agents from the Troy and Royal Oak Police Departments.

Officers found a teenage girl who had been shot by her stepfather and she was taken to a hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

It was a young lady involved. I did see her being carried out of the house by three officers, ”said neighbor Ryan Henahan. “I understand she was shot in the back.”

Police said the suspect fled a neighbor’s house and barricaded himself in his own home.

Police said a neighbor who tried to help the teenage girl was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital.

“I believe that as far as I know there was a lady living next to me, she was shot in the knee,” Henahan said.

When police were unable to communicate with the suspect, the Oakland County SWAT team, negotiators and a psychologist were called to the scene for assistance.

Police said they could not make any communication with the suspect and after several hours the body of the suspect was found using the drone.
