Before basketball player José Juan Barea packed his bags to continue pursuing his professional goals, he dedicated a special time to his daughter to seal their paternal relationship.
Barea, dressed elegantly, surprised Paulina with a gift ring that symbolized the eternal relationship between father and daughter. Dressed up as a princess, Paulina promised to be ‘Daddy’s Nena’, as well as a girl who was obedient to her mother Viviana, fraternal to her brother Jose Juan and committed to her education.
The moment was captured on camera and shared by Barea on Instagram.
Barea will spend a long second term without sharing directly with his family as he made a basketball commitment in Spain. From next Saturday he will play in Madrid with the Estudiantes team, which belongs to the renowned ACB competition.
It will be his second absence in a few months, based on the period he spent last year in the NBA bubble that lasted during the summer season.
The Puerto Rican Canastero signed in Spain because he has goals to return to the NBA after the Dallas Mavericks released him before the start of the current season. After leaving without a contract, Barea returned to the island but continued to train pending an offer from another NBA team, but has not received any offers so far.
In addition to helping the Estudiantes team, Barea wants to stay fit by playing in Spain to be fit in case he gets a bid from the NBA mid-season. In fact, the contract he signed with the Estudiantes club in Spain includes a clause giving him a free exit in the event of a bid arising in the NBA.
Barea has said he hopes his family will eventually visit him in Madrid during the current season, which will run through May.
