Banco Popular warns about vaccine fraud at one of its branches

Banco Popular warned on Wednesday of a fraud scheme being implemented through text messages, announcing a vaccination event for people between the ages of 25 and 50 at the Popular Center facilities in Hato Rey on April 17.

“This information is incorrect and we recommend that you do not provide any personal information at any time,” the company said through its social networks.

In the afternoon, the designated Minister of Health, Carlos Mellado Lopez, clarified that the agency does not use text messages to request information from the public.

“In light of the text messages that are circulating inviting young people to a vaccination, I would like to make it clear that the Department of Health or one of its 540 authorized providers in the vaccination process in Puerto Rico is requesting information via text messages or social networks “Mellado López expressed on his Twitter account.

In turn, the official explained that appointments for patients will be carried out through the portal protegetevacunate.com.
