A Georgia woman was arrested in connection with the death of a 2-year-old girl she was babysitting on, authorities said Tuesday.
Kirstie Flood, 29, is charged with two charges of murder, malicious murder, heavy battery and first-degree cruelty to a child, Sandy Springs police said.
An investigation was launched on December 9 after a “medical call” was made on an unresponsive child in an apartment. The child, identified by the parents as Fallon Fridley, was pronounced dead in a hospital.
An autopsy revealed that the child suffered serious injuries, police said. Flood initially told police that the child hit her head on a slide and did not wake up, according to an arrest warrant obtained by WSB-TV.
Investigators found searches on Flood’s cell phone that included “what kind of people like to abuse other people’s children” and “what does it mean to have a sudden urge to hit a child who isn’t yours “said the order.

“It’s like she bit,” the child’s mother, Kristin Fridley Gantt, told the news channel. “It’s like this evil was in front of my face for years and I never saw it.”
Flood’s friends spoke to the news station to defend her.
“Children are her whole world,” friend Sheri Travis told the news channel.
Flood has had several previous arrests, including battery and drug possession. She is being held without bond in Fulton County Jail.
