Avianca will resume three routes with El Salvador from Sunday 28 June

The two destinations that will reconnect from the 28th are: Houston – San Salvador and the route San Salvador – Toronto, while the route Mexico – San Salvador will be active again from now on April 7, the airline said in a statement.

These three connections were suspended early this month and should be reactivated in April.

“In the coming days, we will resume connectivity to various destinations that are very important to passengers in our region. We re-connect Guatemala directly to Los Angeles, San José and Bogotá; and San Salvador with Houston, Toronto and Mexico, ”said David Alemán, Avianca’s general manager for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

The temporary suspension was due to “the constant restrictions in several countries in terms of limiting tourist access, operational reductions, as well as mobility within cities, and the great uncertainty that passengers still have. reality, ”the company stated on March 1.

On that occasion, the airline announced that the routes would resume according to the evolution of the pandemic, in some cases during the first quarter of the year and in others during the second semester.

Other routes that are in use again

In addition, Avianca explained that other routes that had been suspended, such as Bogotá – Guatemala City, will also resume its flights from March 28, as well as the route Bogotá – Orlando and that of Bogotá-Curaçao. While the route Barranquilla – Miami has reconnected since March 29.

There are also two more routes that will restore their flights from April 2: Guatemala City – Los Angeles and Guatemala City – San José; meanwhile the route Guatemala City – San José will resume connections on April 7.

Avianca reported in early March that the airline will operate the San Salvador-Ontario (Southern California) route from July, with 3 weekly flights on Airbus A319 aircraft, which will have 2,880 seats available per month.

With this route, the airline is expanding its connectivity offering between Central America and the west coast of the United States, as it currently has flights to cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco.
