Avelo Airlines said Thursday it will begin flying to 11 destinations from Hollywood Burbank Airport on April 28. It has one-way fares starting at $ 19.
Avelo’s inaugural routes target smaller California airports. Other destinations include Oregon, Colorado, and Montana.
The airline will operate Boeing 737s.
Avelo’s rates do not include any change or call center fees for customers who choose to book by phone.
Avelo was founded by an experienced airline who thinks there is room for another low cost airline in addition to the various budget airlines already on the market.
“There are too few seats in the United States offered by low-cost airlines. We therefore think the opportunity is huge,” said Andrew Levy, Avelo chairman and CEO. “Customers want a very cheap way to get from point A to point B.”
While Avelo calls Houston its business home, it hasn’t immediately expressed plans to add one of the city’s airports as a destination.
While Houstonians won’t be able to save a lot of money on the ultra-low rates, Avelo offers a number of out-of-town jobs. If you are looking for a job, you can check Avelo’s open position on her website.
