The 21.5-inch iMac in both its non-4K and 4K offerings is experiencing less and less availability at Apple Stores in the United States, with shipping dates for online orders of the non-4K model dropping by at least a week.
The vast majority of Apple Stores standaard state that the standard 21.5-inch iMac cannot be picked up. The more expensive configuration with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB Fusion Drive storage is currently not fully retrievable, but it can be delivered. Regardless of configuration, Apple will provide at least five to seven business days for shipping estimates.
The more expensive 21.5-inch iMac with a 4K display is also experiencing lack of availability at a few nationwide retailers; however, it remains largely in stock. The larger 27-inch iMac will remain available as normal.
Last month, Apple discontinued two configurations of the standard 21.5-inch iMac, possibly making way for new stock. Rumor has it that Apple is working on an all-new iMac design with a faster Apple silicon chip, but a specific timeframe for release is unknown.
Next week on Tuesday, April 20, Apple is holding its “Spring Loaded” event, where new iPad Pros are expected to be announced. However, it remains to be seen whether or not the redesigned iMacs will make their debut at the event.
