The Attorney General, Óscar Chinchilla, assured that the prosecution will demonstrate that the purchases were made outside the law, without guarantees of quality, compliance, maintenance and delivery, without a fixed installation period and without regard to the payment guarantee.
The statement was released after the prosecution filed a tax injunction against former director of Strategic Investment of Honduras (Invest-H), Marco Bográn, and former administrator Alex Moraes, as well as Guatemalan businessman Axel López.
Chinchilla pointed out that the prosecutor’s office has teamed up in judicial, tax and academic matters to investigate the actions of the former Invest-H officials.
This meant that a serious, responsible, rigorous and very meticulous investigation has been completed, which translates into the filing of a petition with the presentation of two defendants, using the powers of the procedural prescriptions given to the prosecution in the case . through the purchase of mobile hospitals, ”explains Chinchilla.
The crimes accused by the MP against Marcos Bográn are violation of the duties of the officials and two for fraud.
Chinchilla confirmed that the institution it directs will demonstrate that the purchases were made outside the law, without guarantees of quality, conformity, maintenance and delivery, without a fixed installation period and without regard to the payment guarantee.
He pointed out that the biomedical report found that the medical equipment acquired is overvalued and, due to design and equipment issues, does not perform the function of treating patients with COVID-19, that the equipment was obsolete, used and in poor condition.
“It indicates that the manufacturer had neither the capacity nor the technology to build, manufacture and equip this type of hospital,” he said.
The Attorney General announced that the MP will request the measure of judicial detention of the suspect and, at the first session, the protective custody of the two suspects. He alleged that there is a flight risk for the two defendants.
