Atletico Madrid Wants to leave the club

Diego Costa didn’t train with his Atletico Madrid teammates on Monday, as he finalizes his departure from the club.
The Brazilian-born striker inquired The Colchoneros Sunday that he wants to end his contract six months earlier due to family matters, with his deal currently running until June 30.
So by not being present for the penultimate training before Atletico take over Getafe, that makes it clear Costa‘s intention not to stay. The Rojiblancos gave him permission to miss the session.
The year 2020 has not been an easy one for the 32-year-old. He started it with a hernia problem, then came the pandemic, and he ended the 2019/20 season with the highest number of league goals in a season since returning to the club – five. A disappointing return for one Atletico rush hour.
The 2020/21 season did not have the best start for Costa either with Luis Suarez‘s arrival indicating he should play second fiddle. He was not happy about that, although a muscle injury and thrombosis prevented him from removing the Uruguayan from the base. Until now this season Costa has scored two goals.
Now a family issue is forcing him to ask the club if he can end his contract early. It doesn’t seem likely that either side will return now, as evidenced by his absence from training on Monday. Everything indicates that Costasecond spell Atletico comes to an abrupt end.
