Atlas: Juan Román Riquelme had agreed to play for the Foxes, says Bruno Marioni

Former footballer Bruno Marioni revealed that Juan Román Riquelme in particular was about to play in the Liga MX He said the Argentinian had agreed to play for Atlas.

In an interview for the YouTube channel MX Sudamérica, Bruno Marioni claimed he almost became a sporting director of Atlas when he retired from the court, and that he had already verbally agreed with Juan Román Riquelme to be part of the rojinegro team.

But neither thing happened, because Marioni did not end up as director of the foxes and Riquelme did not reach the Atlas.

This is my first time telling. I was about to become an Atlas manager when I retired a year later I guess and I called Roman and he said ‘Yeah it could be’, and I said ‘wow how crazy hopefully ‘. Well, in the end I wasn’t a sports director and Riquelme wasn’t coming to Mexico, but of course I imagined he would play in Mexico and break it in Mexico, ” he said who was also a player for Pumas and Pachuca.

Bruno Marioni retired in 2010 after serving in the ranks of Estudiantes Tecos, and a year later he is said to have sought the arrival of Juan Román Riquelme, the legend of Boca Juniors, for the Atlas.
