At least one may have been murdered

Three people were shot on Tuesday at a Stop & Shop on Long Island, with the shooter apparently hopping on a nearby bus to flee, according to police and a report.

The bloodshed took place at around 11:15 a.m. at the grocery store at 50 Cherry Valley Ave. in West Hempstead, authorities said – while police urged residents to stay indoors while a manhunt continued for suspect Gabriel deWitt Wilson, 31.

“There has been an active shooter situation at West Hempstead Stop & Shop,” said Nassau County Police. confirmed in a tweet a little after noon.

“The #NassauCountyPD is investigating the area and nearby schools have been notified to close and secure their buildings. The subject has not yet been tackled and we ask that local residents stay indoors. “

One of the gunshot victims is believed to have died, while two other people were injured, law enforcement sources told a local NBC-TV partner.

Wilson is believed to have gotten on a bus to flee, the outlet said.
