Assassin’s Creed Valhalla removes content after groundbreaking update causes backlash

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Update 1.2 released this week on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC and Google Stadia, with a highly anticipated gameplay feature in the process alongside a ton of new content, including free DLC bringing players back to the first game. That said, while it was the game’s biggest update in a while, it turns out to be quite problematic too. Since its release, players have reported massive bugs and even crashes en masse. As a result, some of the new content it added has been removed from the game in a hotfix.

On Twitter, the official Assassin’s Creed account has revealed that a server-side hotfix has been pushed to fix the crash issues in and around Ravensthorpe. To accomplish this, Ubisoft has removed settlement decorations and Ostara Festival quests with decorations can no longer be completed.

“We are implementing a server-side hotfix to address an increase in crashes near Ravensthorpe,” the post read.

At the time of publication, it is not entirely clear whether this hotfix has resolved all crash issues. And it is also unclear when this content will be added back to the game. What is clear is that players are starting to lose patience.
