Thanks to the increase in the allocation of vaccines against COVID-19 for Puerto Rico, the governor Pedro Pierluisi announced that from next Monday, April 12, all inhabitants of the island over 16 years old qualify for the vaccine.

Pierluisi made this during his State Situation Message this afternoon at the Capitol.

“Every Puerto Rican and every Puerto Rican deserves access to health and together we will beat this virus,” he said.

The governor explained that the federal government “treated Puerto Rico with equality“at the time of vaccine dispatch, to which progress in the process would respond.

By expanding vaccination, the island would meet the deadline for President Joe Biden to make vaccination available to all age groups in states and territories by April 19.

“Any resident of Puerto Rico over the age of 16 who wants to be vaccinated can make his or her appointment and get his or her vaccination,” he added.
