A’s Expitcher Dave Stewart is offering $ 115 million per share in the Colosseum

Former Oakland Athletics pitcher Dave Stewart submitted a $ 115 million bid to buy the City of Oakland’s stake in the Colosseum, with plans to develop the site, he told the San Francisco Chronicle.

With the Golden State Warriors -NBA- and the now Las Vegas Raiders -NFL- leaving the city in recent years, the Athletics are the last professional team to use the Colosseum. The team has taken steps to build a new baseball field at Howard Terminal, about seven miles from the city.

The A’s currently own the other half of the Colosseum.

In a Tweet Saturday night, Stewart, who grew up in the area, said that “doing the right thing for our community” is the driving force behind the offering. He told the Chronicle that he has ideas on how to develop the area and possibly build a new stadium if plans for the Howard Terminal stadium fail.

Stewart, 63, played eight seasons in Oakland and helped the team win a World Series in 1989.
