PHOENIX – Public health officials in Arizona reported 692 new cases of coronavirus on Monday and no additional deaths from COVID-19.

The last documented totals were 854,453 COVID-19 infections and 17,153 fatalities, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services COVID-19 dashboard.

The dashboard also showed that 4,495,519 vaccine doses have been administered in the state, with 2,736,235 people (38.1% of the state population) receiving at least one injection and 1,926,181 fully vaccinated people.

Coronavirus-related hospital admissions in Arizona have remained fairly stable this month, with relatively small daily fluctuations. The number of confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients in the state hospitals rose by six at night to 555 on Sunday. The number of IC beds used by COVID-19 patients decreased by five overnight to 145, the lowest number since April 7.

The weekly positivity rate for diagnostic tests with COVID-19 rose to 6% for 52,105 people tested last week, the first change in the statistic in more than a month. In the past six weeks it was 5%.

The state’s daily health department updates and confirms current case and death data after the state receives statistics, which can delay several days or more. They do not represent actual activity for the past 24 hours.

The hospital admission figures posted every morning are reported electronically the night before by hospitals across the state.

COVID-19, the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, has no impact on some people and is severely disabling or fatal for others. Infected people without symptoms – including but not limited to a cough, fever, and difficulty breathing – are able to spread the virus.

Diagnostic tests are available at hundreds of locations in Arizona and should be sought by anyone with symptoms or who may have been exposed to an infected person. Information on locations, schedules, and registration can be found on the Department of Health Services website.

All adults in Arizona are eligible for COVID-19 vaccines, with a minimum age of 16 for the Pfizer injection and 18 for other approved versions.

Monday morning, a new state-run mass vaccination site launched at the University Union Fieldhouse at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.

For details on vaccine availability statewide, the ADHS website has a vaccine finder page with locations and registration information.

For information on metro Phoenix vaccine availability, Maricopa County Public Health has a locator page that includes pharmacies, government-operated sites, health clinics, and pop-up distribution events.

The coming week of appointments for mass vaccination sites run by the state using the Pfizer vaccine will be released every Friday at 11am. Appointments can be booked online at https://podvaccine.azdhs.gov/ or by calling 844-542-8201.

Additional places can be opened through any provider at any time due to cancellations and additional deliveries, so vaccine seekers should keep checking one or all of their registration options regularly.
