The Chancellery Argentina released a statement expressing their “strong rejection” of new military exercises in the Falkland Islands. In the statement he denounces the participation of soldiers Grenadiers guards and from Scots Guards in combination with forces of Royal Armories (RA) and from the Royal Airforce (RAF, before the acronym in English from Royal Airforce), which are part of the United Kingdom’s military deployment in the Falkland Islands.

According to the Chancellery, the British military presence “contradicts the Resolution 41/11 from UN General Assembly (Zone of Peace and Cooperation in the South Atlantic) which, among other provisions, calls on the states of all other regions, especially the militarily important states, to strictly respect the South Atlantic region as a zone of peace and cooperation , in particular through the reduction and eventual elimination of its military presence in the said region ”.

The Argentine government affirmed that these operations “constitute an unjustified display of power and a deliberate departure from the appeal of the numerous resolutions of the United Nations and other international organizations, urging both Argentina and the United Kingdom to resume negotiations, in order to find a peaceful and final solution to the sovereignty dispute involving both countries in the Question from the Malvinas Islands”.

The British position

According to British South Atlantic Forces (BfsaiIn recent days, a “demonstration of penetration” maneuver was carried out, attended by Commodore Jonathan Lett, commander of the Bfsai.

British forces said that “the demonstration gave attendees a better understanding of different weapon systems, types of ammunition and their effects on a wide variety of surfaces.”

They also claimed that these maneuvers correspond to the ongoing training of all small arms troops, from close combat shooting to tactical live fire training.

Second confrontation in six months

Last July, Argentina had made it public that it had rejected another military exercise in the islands. On that occasion a joint exercise had been carried out involving: the patrol ship HMS Forth, the British Infantry Company A and the plane A400M together to the Typhoons from 1435 Flight RAF.
