Apple may build a fully autonomous electric car with Hyundai-Kia: report

Apple Inc. is close to a deal with Hyundai-Kia to make an Apple-branded autonomous electric vehicle at a Kia factory in Georgia, CNBC reported late Wednesday, citing “multiple” sources informing CNBC of the plan.

The so-called “Apple car” is being developed by a team at Apple AAPL,

and would go into production in 2024, although that date could be delayed, CNBC said.

No definitive agreement has been reached between the companies and Apple could choose to partner with another car manufacturer separately or in addition to partnering with Hyundai 005380,

CNBC said.

South Korean media reported earlier on Wednesday that the Korean automaker had received a $ 3.6 billion investment from Apple as part of a partnership to create electric vehicles. Hyundai owns about a third of the Kia 000270,
