Apple is working on a foldable iPhone, the report said

Apple is one step closer to realizing its foldable iPhone that is rumored to be.

The Cupertino, California-based tech giant has reportedly asked manufacturer Foxconn to create two prototype shells to test potential future iPhone designs.

The two designs will be very different, reports Tom’s Guide, with one featuring a large screen that folds in half, while the other will be two separate screens connected by a hinge.

It’s unclear whether Apple plans to release a pair of foldable phones or whether it is experimenting to find the best design.

The report follows an Apple patent filing published last week for an ultra-flexible phone with a display that folds in and out.

Apple recently released its latest line of iPhones, including the smallest iPhone in years, the 12 Mini.
