Apple is temporarily closing stores in Michigan due to COVID-19 conditions

(WXYZ) – Apple is temporarily closing stores in Michigan due to current COVID-19 conditions.

“We are taking this step with great caution as we are closely monitoring the situation and look forward to seeing our teams and customers again as soon as possible,” Apple said in a statement.

Apple has six stores in Michigan.

The coronavirus rate in Michigan is one of the worst in the nation. Thursday, there were more than 770,000 cases of the virus, with nearly 200,000 since the beginning of March.

As of April 15, nearly 4,000 people have been hospitalized with COVID-19 nationwide, and many hospitals are nearly full.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer outlined several reasons why she said COVID-19 cases in Michigan are on the rise, blaming the variants and a lack of compliance by residents more than a year after the pandemic first started.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services expanded its meeting on April 16, masking epidemics. The order includes the extension of mask requirements for children aged 2 to 4 years.
