Apple’s rumored experiment to use its content offering to promote its services now includes two new non-fiction series titled The line

The first is a six-part podcast series premiering today, featuring three episodes currently available as of this writing. Hosted and executive produced by Dan Taberski, the podcast will address the controversial acquittal of Navy Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, who was arrested in 2018 after it was alleged that he had committed war crimes over the brutal murder of an ISIS prisoner, among other alleged crimes, including posing with a photo of a corpse.

In 2019, he was controversially found not guilty on all charges except one charge of posing with the corpse, a development that generated clearance of the Navy SEALs who turned in Gallagher.

Both the podcast and docuseries, which will debut this fall as a four-part limited series on Apple TV +will look at “the complicated reality involved in waging a decades-long war, removing the layers surrounding Gallagher’s alleged crimes,” Apple said in a statement. press releaseBoth series are produced by Jigsaw Productions. The series features interviews with Gallagher and his wife and includes 50 current and former special operations.

It comes as no surprise that Apple offers this dual format that basically cross-promotes its services. Bloomberg reported Last year, Apple made a major podcast push in part to promote its Apple TV + originals. And that’s probably sensible given the slow start of Apple TV +, in part due to the limited number of titles available at launch.
