(Reuters) – Tim Cook, Apple Inc’s CEO, software chief Craig Federighi and other executives were named on a preliminary list of witnesses in the software giant’s case against Epic Games, a March 19 lawsuit revealed.

App Store Vice President Matt Fischer and Apple Fellow Phil Schiller were also named on the list filed with the US District Court Northern District of California Oakland Division, a copy of which was seen by Reuters.

The iPhone maker was at odds with Epic Games, the maker of the popular game Fortnite, which last year tried to avoid 30% of the costs that Apple charges developers on the App Store by creating its own in-app payment system. launch. The move prompted Apple to ban Fortnite from its store.

In a separate lawsuit, Epic Games listed its founder and Chief Executive Tim Sweeney among its own witnesses in the case.

Apple did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment, but told Bloomberg in a statement here that it was “confident the case will prove Epic willfully violated its agreement just to increase its revenues.”
